Dahlias Year-Round: a workshop series
Hello, dahlia enthusiasts! Join Dooryard Dahlias and our collaborators at Merryspring Nature Center for this 4-part workshop series. Over 4 sessions, participants will learn how to care for dahlias throughout the year, from spring planting to winter tuber storage and everything in between. Topics will include:

Winter: waking up your tubers; rooting dahlia shoots; starting dahlias from seed

An overview of dahlias followed by a workshop on rooting shoots (a great way to increase your plant stock!). Participants will take home their own rooted cutting.

Spring: planting; staking; pinching; scouting and early season plant care

In addition to the basics of planting and staking, learn how to pinch your young dahlia plants to get more blooms and how to scout for pests.

Summer: harvesting and handling dahlia blooms; deadheading; late season plant care

Learn when & how to harvest blooms to maximize vase life, encourage longer stems, and keep your plants blooming. Exclusive opportunity to pick your own bouquet at the Dooryard Dahlia field!

Fall: lifting and dividing dahlia tubers; storing tubers over winter; seed saving

Demystify tuber dividing and learn how to store your tubers for next year. Learn how to save seed so you can grow your own unique dahlias.

Spring, Summer & Fall sessions meet at Dooryard Farm, 238 Mechanic St, Camden. Meet at the farmstand.
WHO: This workshop series is geared towards dahlia growers and would-be growers with minimal experience, but also open to more experienced dahlia enthusiasts. There will be something for everyone!

Refunds: If you need to cancel, please notify us by email no later than April 4, and we will refund your tuition minus a $25 non-refundable deposit. Cancellations after April 4 will not be refunded. Thanks for understanding.
